Thanks for adding a Mansfield Park quote! I’ve already thought that you have forgotten it! I love this line. It’s kind of a complement of the first sentence of P&P. It is nice if we put them together: “It is a truth universally acknowledged that a single man in possession of a good fortune must be in want of a wife. But there certainly are not so many men of large fortune in the world as there are pretty women to deserve them.”
Sad, but true.
Yes, I’ve been ignoring Mansfield Park! Actually, I posted a bunch of MP quotes at the beginning, and they mysteriously vanished (I’m almost certain it was user error). I’ll be making up for it soon.
