How did you like Emma last night? I only saw a tiny bit, but enough to remind me how much I love that movie. Next week, the one I've been waiting for, the new Sense and Sensibility. Whoo-hoo!

I confess that I'm not too familiar with the text. But, I enjoyed it overall. The story had a compressed feeling, like they were trying to do too much in too little time. Watercolor instead of oils. But Kate Beckinsale was lovely. I will admit that one of the last things Knightley said to Emma, that he held her when she was three weeks old, and now he was marrying her, squicked me a bit, even though I know that age difference was quite common then. Is that line in the book??

I did see it, and I think Emma is not my favorite heroine. But hey, any Jane is better than no Jane! I felt the same way, Kristine, about that line. Especially since they were rushing the story along. I'm also looking forward to the S&S coming!

You know, I really thought that quote was in the book, but I can't find it at the moment. That line always did creep me out a little, too. He is roughly twice her age, right? Would not have been strange to them, but sounds a little weird to us.

I loved this version of Emma. I hadn't seen it before and was very impressed. And I can't wait to see S&S next week - I hope that they do it up right.
